Dear Kids,

Today I have decided to start writing a family journal. I hope that one day this journal can be something that we can all read, and hopefully learn something, maybe look back on some memories, get a few laughs, or maybe some tears. I hope that both your dad and I can remember to write in this when something significant happens and also when the little things in life happens. I hope to write about the good stuff and also the not so good stuff. I hope you enjoy!

Mom

Dear Kids,

I am feeling very frustrated right now. (Damon, I'll leave you out of this!) Blake and Ashlyn, why can you not get along???? All day everyday, all you ever do is yell and argue with eachother. It is so foreign to me. My sisters and I never fought, just ask Nana. I just don't understand. Blake, I love you bud, but I have to blame most of it on you. All Ashlyn wants to do is play with you, but you never want to play with her. I know that she can be annoying at times, and whines like a little baby sometimes, but all she wants is to be eccepted by you. Why can't you just play with her and be nice? I actually just got done yelling at both of you so loud that my voice feels a little sore right now. I told ya'll that if you can't say or do anything nice, then don't say or do anything at all. Then I told you both that I don't want you looking at eachother, talking to eachother, or doing anything at all with eachother cause I am just soooo sick of the fighting!! I really hope that the two of you learn how to get along really soon, cause I just need some peace and quiet around here!

Mom

Dear Kids,

Today was one of those not so good days! At this very moment while I am writing this, Damon is in his bed screaming his little head off. Yes, its bedtime and he should be going to sleep, but for some reason he doesn't want to.

To start off the morning, I woke up at 6am to go down to the basement for my daily workout. (I'm trying to lose some weight. We have plans to go to California in June and its also my 10 year high school reunion this summer, so I'm trying to look good for those things!) I had such a hard time getting out of bed because I just wanted to keep sleeping. So the day goes on, and I am really tired all morning, so I decide that as soon as Ashlyn leaves for preschool, I will put Damon down for his nap, then I will lay down for a nap. I was so excited about this, I kept looking out the window for Ashley (High) to come pick Ashlyn up. I hardly ever take naps by the way. So when Ashlyn leaves, I hurry and get Damon in bed, lock all the doors, and close all the blinds so that noone disturbes us. I get myself all comfy in bed, and just as my head hits the pillow Damon starts screaming. I decide just to let him cry it out, cause this is his usual nap time and I think he will fall asleep any minute. The minutes go on and on and he doesn't let up. I decide to check on him and get him a sippy cup of milk and it still doesn't work. He cried the entire time, up until it was time to go pick up Ashlyn, then he decides to fall asleep. The little stinker! The one day I try to take a nap he decides not to take his usual nap. So as I'm sure you can all imagine, I am grumpy.

Later in the day, I notice Popcorn and Dusty (our cats) acting all weird outside. I go out and find this really mean and nasty wild cat sleeping in their bed. This cat has been hanging out around our house for months now, bullying our cats and eating all of their food. For weeks now we have been trying to catch this cat in our "cat trap" but the stupid thing was too smart to go in the trap. Anyways, I go down to take a look at it and its hissing at me, so I throw a little food its way so that it will stop hissing. Well, when your dad gets home I tell him that the cat is here, so he takes out his 22 rifle and heads out. When the cat sees your dad he runs away and climbs the fence that is between our house and our neighbors house, and before deciding to jump over decides to take one second to look back at Dad. That one second was just long enough for Dad to get a shot off at it, and he gets it! The cat fell off the fence into our neighbors yard. So now we have the problem of a dead cat laying in our neighbors yard (whom we barely know by the way!) Dad goes over there and knocks on the door but they don't answer. So he opens their fence and with a shovel walks back to where the cat is laying. Just then the neighbor's mom comes out on the back deck and sees Dad. Dad explains the whole situation to the lady, scoops up the cat with the shovel, and throws it in our garbage. End of story, right? Wrong. Later that night while Blake and Dad are at basketball practice, I get a knock on our door. Its our neighbor. She seems pretty upset that we are heartless people who shoot innocent animals. (At least thats what I'm sure she thinks!) Anyways, that just stressed me out for the rest of the night, cause I would just hate it if she really thinks that we don't care about animals and just shoot them if we want to get rid of them. (Shooting that cat was honestly our last choice.)

Anyway, so here we are now, Damon finally has decided to stop crying, now its time for me to go to sleep. Goodnight!

Love,
Mom
